Osage sweeps Saints to stay perfect on season

Sep 03, 2020 08:31PM ● By Travis Charlson
The Saints jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first set, and a 7-4 lead in the third set, but that’s as close as St. Ansgar would come Thursday night as they fell to Osage on the road.

The Green Devils cruised to their third win of the season, trailing only in the first half of the third set before climbing back to the lead to end the night before a fourth set was needed.

The Score: Osage wins in three sets, (25-7, 25-10, 25-17). Osage jumps to 3-0 on the season (all conference wins) and the Saints fall to 2-1 with a 1-1 conference record.

What They’re saying: “We just played really hard, we did what we had to to be our best. We knew they would be tough competition so we had to be really focused tonight.”
— Osage junior Kaebre Sullivan

“We want to take that third game of the match and grow from there. I think that’s the one where we were able to control things a little bit more at the beginning and I think that gave us a little more confidence.”
— STA coach Tyler Johnson

Up next: Both teams look forward to North Butler, another team that looks to finish towards to top of the TIC East standings this year. St. Ansgar hosts the Bearcats Sept. 8 and the Green Devils play them on the road on the 10th.
