St. Ansgar Homecoming festivities are next weekend
Cancellation after cancellation has plagued us the past few months. This year is anything but normal, and yet, St. Ansgar HS Student Council members have been working hard to find ways to spread joy for our students and to give back to our supportive community. Though this may not be an ordinary year, it is an extraordinary time to be a Saint!
Get ready, fans... it is Homecoming Week!
Alumni and fans, here are some highlights you may be interested in knowing:
Homecoming is on Friday, September 18.
Help us celebrate Homecoming Week with a Community Pep Rally on Tuesday, September 15, following the home volleyball game in the HS Gym. All community members are welcome to attend!
The Homecoming Parade will begin at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, September 18. Due to COVID-19, this year will look a little different, as we plan to have a walking parade around the high school track. The public is encouraged to attend to support our student groups! Additionally, we will live-stream it to the public should you wish to view the parade from home. We will conclude the parade with the king and queen coronation at the football field. If it rains, the parade and coronation will take place in the HS Gym.
Finally, the football game at 7 p.m. vs West Fork.
The HS student council members are in the process of organizing many other activities for the week, including dress-up days, various games throughout the week, a mascot search, and the HS classes will battle for points to see which class has the most school spirit. We also are working on community events in which local families can participate when they aren’t cheering on the Saints, such as Chalk the Walk (around the school and trail), a Spirit Walk around town to look for Saints heads and fleurs, and more.
Do you want to show your Saints pride, too? There will be a contest for area businesses to decorate for Homecoming! Business displays will be judged at the end of the week, and the winner will be announced at the king and queen coronation.
As always, if you have any questions about the week, please contact Deneen Nelson at [email protected] The students are excited, and we hope you are too! Go Saints!
Please note: face masks will be required at both the community pep rally and homecoming parade. Please plan accordingly if you plan to attend—and we hope you do! Also, thank you in advance for your flexibility this year. If Homecoming plans need to change, we will do our best to communicate that information in a timely manner.
