Until Madison Hillman miss-timed a kill attempt halfway through the first set that ricocheted off the far wall, it looked like St. Ansgar might not give up a single point when they hosted Northwood-Kensett Friday.

The Saints jumped out to an 11-0 lead against the Vikings in the first set, and never looked back as they blew their opponent out of the gym faster than a wig in a wind-storm.

It was the ninth win in a row for Tyler Johnson’s Saints, and improves St. Ansgar’s conference record to 5-1 and their overall mark to 14-4.

Senior pogo-stick Gracie Urbatsch had herself a night in front of the net, registering 12 kills and 5 blocks, and Hali Anderson led the team with 8 digs and 28 assists.

The Score: The Saints improve to 14-4 with their win over the Vikings. (25-9, 25-7, 25-11).

What they’re saying: “[Our confidence] is really high. We’ll use that as momentum for our next game — we just have to stay up and stay positive, help each other out when needed and be good teammates.” — Senior Hali Anderson

“We won four matches last Saturday, but I think [our girls] know we didn’t play very well.  They really wanted to change that, and we had a really good practice yesterday — possibly one of our best ones all year — so I think we’re staring to turn the corner with having more confidence and focus.” — Coach Tyler Johnson

Up Next: The Saints take on Nashua on the road Thursday, then look forward to a triangular at Turkey Valley Monday, Oct. 5.
