The announcement came after completing one season with NIACC, where she earned NJCAA Division II Defensive Player of the Year honors and All-Region first team, voted on by league coaches.

“Academically, they have both of the two career paths I’m looking at right now,” Hillman said. “They have amazing coaches and a really great community. Another big role that played a part in my decision was the scholarship I was blessed to receive.”

The 6-foot-2 forward, who initially signed to play basketball for the University of Nebraska at Kearney before her high school senior basketball season, de-committed afer a coaching change at the school, which eventually led her to NIACC. She led the ICCAC with 73 blocked shots and led NIACC in scoring at 13.6 points per game and rebounding, averaging 8.4 per game.

“For basketball, they currently don’t have a true post spot filled, they want someone who can play with their back to the basket and shoot mid-range,” Hillman said. “I’d hope to be able to fill that spot next season.”
