OSAGE — An improved effort for the Osage boys’ tennis team, the Green Devils did better on the scoreboard, but the 10-2 Decorah Vikings pulled out the 5-4 win on Tuesday, April 25.

During the first match of the season, Osage dropped the road match, 6-3.

“The improvement comes from playing a lot more,” coach A.J. Francis said. “A lot of these guys, that first time we played Decorah, they never saw any real competition, just playing against their friends and stuff. Now that they’ve had a couple of meets under their belt, they see them again, all of the matches are close. You can’t ask for anything more.”

One of the best matches of the day was at No. 4 singles in a marathon 11-10 win for Brady Nicholson, who won the 7-5 tiebreak over Aitor Cuevas. It seemed like all of their points earned were extended rallies throughout. Also earning wins in singles play were No. 3 Ian Schwarting and No. 6 Gabe Muller. Jarin Camlin and Brady Nicholson teamed up to win the No. 2 doubles match, 10-2.
