Hot Green Devils overwhelm Panthers

OSAGE — Three games into the 2023-24 season, and it is hard to imagine coach Mike Brahn’s Osage team shooting any better.

Following an absolute 85-32 throttling of Central Springs on Friday, Dec. 1, the Green Devils are shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 59.2 from beyond the three-point line in improving to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in the Top of Iowa East.

Madden Uhlenhopp and Quinn Street combined for 52 of the team’s points with 27 and 25, respectively, with the duo going 22-of-34 from the field altogether. Uhlenhopp, a junior, was 5-of-9 from beyond the three-point line for better than 55 percent.

That comes from a lot of shooting in practice, out of practice, as often as he can muster.

“We work on shooting every single day,” Uhlenhopp said. “End of practice, the last three minutes, it’s just straight shooting. Transition stuff, it’s really all we do is work on shooting and defense..”

More on this story, and more photos, will be found in the Dec. 6 print and e-editions of the Enterprise Journal.
