OSAGE — Claiming back-to-back Top of Iowa East Conference titles were the St. Ansgar boys, and not only that, but six straight were earned for the Osage girls after the dust settled at Osage High School on Thursday, May 5.

The Green Devil girls accumulated 118 team points to get by Nashua-Plainfield with 105. St. Ansgar girls were third with 104.

Nine different conference championships, including new meet records, were earned by the Saints to take the boys’ title with 164 points, out-distancing Central Springs by 38 (126). Osage was third in the boys’ race with 80.

Both Riley Witt and Bradley Hackenmiller had a hand in four different titles as Witt won eight TIC East titles the past two seasons and, along with Osage’s Meredith Street, earned TIC track athlete of the year honors following the meet.

“With all of my races, I tried to cheer on the guys as much as possible,” Witt said. “I feel like it’s my job as a senior to be as supportive as possible. On cool-down laps, I’ve cheered them on. We have a good shot to place and win at least one of the (last two events). I’m sure we did well. It will be exciting to see.”
