DES MOINES — St. Ansgar senior Lorne Isler was the lone Saint recognized by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association all-state Class A team, announced early Tuesday morning.

Osage placed three players on the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association Class 2A third team and Riceville’s Lawson Losee was a third team pick in the 8-Player Class.

Isler, a linebacker who led the Saints in tackles with 41 tackles, including 30 solos and 8.5 tackles for loss, was recognized as a second team defensive utility player. He also recovered a pair of fumbles and returned an interception six yards as coach Drew Clevenger’s team finished 3-6 and a playoff appearance against the eventual state runner-up.

Losee was one of the leading tacklers in the state, if not 8-Player with 106 total tackles, 69 solos, six tackles for loss and two quarterback sacks. He also had two fumble recoveries with returns for 65 yards and three interception returns for a total of 55 yards.

Among the honorees for coach Torian Wolf’s Green Devils, which took home the 2A District 3 championship, were junior running back Brayden Onken, junior defensive lineman Barrett Muller and senior linebacker Noah O’Malley.
