rSave our Strays of Mitchell County held their 13th Annual “Wine, Whiskers and Wags” fundraiser Saturday at the Osage VFW.

“It was a great time,” said volunteer Lisa Dockstader. “It’s all volunteer help. All of our people that help run our fundraisers, we’re all volunteers.”

The event featured wine and hors d’oeuvres of all different kinds, as well as a live auction. Over 75 guests attended. r

rEither some of the attendees were feeling extra generous, or there must have been some truly luxurious goods up for auction: a bumble berry pie made by Barb Meitner went for $85, a case of beer for $180, a carrot cake made by Lori Kimber went for $185 and a plate of 3 dozen cookies went for $500.

The estate of James “Uncle Jimmy” Kroone donated a $1000 check at the event as well.

Proceeds from the event went to help with the costs of the organization, such as purchasing food, litter, and various vet bills. Since Save our Strays is a non-profit, these fundraisers are central to their funding. r
