Johnson, who was the only area competitor at last week’s Drake Relays, ran to a near PR in winning the Green Devils home boys’ meet on Tuesday, April 23. He just missed last year.
“We’re going down Thursday,” Johnson said after his 15.15-second victory about going to Des Moines and the Blue Oval. “Get down there, run as fast I can. There’s going to be some really good competition, so hopefully I run my best there.
“It kind of sucks not making it (in 2023), especially since you are right on the verge of getting it. I guess that pushed me over a little bit more.”
