Riceville boys escape Huskies

NASHUA — Riceville’s boys basketball team stepped out of conference play to eke out a 58-57 victory over Nashua-Plainfield on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

N-P failed to complete an old-fashioned three-point play on a basket and foul on Landon Foelske, and Gunnar Smith took the ball and scored with about five seconds left to pull out the win.

“We got down by 10 early and fought our way back to tie it at halftime,” Riceville coach Matt Schwade said. “Second half was back and forth.”

A last-second shot by N-P’s Matthew Malven just missed to help the Wildcats prevail.
