Coach Scott Cakerice was glad for the team to get a game in at last after having the team’s scrimmage canceled and home opener postponed to this Thursday, Dec. 8.

A more experienced lineup and definite height advantage against H-D had the Saints out to an 18-2 lead after the first five minutes, and they never looked back.

“Very happy first game of the year – it was nice to finally get to play,” Cakerice said. “We didn’t get the jamboree or Tuesday, but we got tonight, so we’re happy with it and mostly happy with the outcome.”

The Bulldogs committed three turnovers via a shot clock violation, two of them were on back-to-back trips up the floor in the second quarter as the Saints were extending their lead.

That wasn’t an issue for the Saints, and Cakerice said he didn’t expect it to be.

“We have spent (time) on it a lot this summer and this fall,” Cakerice said. “It might happen once in a great while, but we don’t worry about it, play ball. It shouldn’t be, but it could be some time . . . They are doing their thing, not worried about it.”
