Saints stymie Huskies

ST. ANSGAR — A slow start was quickly put to the wayside when the Saints turned up the defensive heat on Nashua-Plainfield.

Coach Scott Cakerice’s girls basketball team turned on the full court pressure while trailing early on the Huskies and the visitors couldn’t handle it in an eventual 60-30 Top of Iowa East Conference game on Monday, Dec. 11.

St. Ansgar forced N-P into 30 turnovers, leading to easy scores on its end of the court.

“We can do that when we put the ball in the basket,” Cakerice said. “It allows us to start our press, as you know.”

Aspen Falk led a trio in double figures for the Saints with 18 points, adding a team-high eight rebounds and adding four assists in the rout. She shot 66.7 percent from the field and was perfect (2-of-2) from beyond the three-point line.

Also scoring in double figures for St. Ansgar were Amelia Porisch (13) and Natalie Bork (10).
