Saints sweep home co-ed meet

ST. ANSGAR — Saint girls track’s success continued in their own home co-ed meet on Monday, April 8, a makeup date from March 26, as coach Phil Baldus’ team is 3-for-3 in track and field victories this young 2024 season.

Coach Drew Clevenger’s boys team made it a sweep by topping its portion of the meet, getting its first victory after finishing runner-up in the Saints’ only other action so far in the outdoors.

There is little secret as to why the Saints are seeing the results so far: hard work.

“I think we all work hard in practice, and we keep pushing each other and getting better,” said Lila Powers, who ran anchors on at least a couple of winning Saint relays. “I know our coaches keep telling us these meets are glorified practices, so not to get too upset at them, because like we’ve said, we have so many back-to-back. We’re just working harder at the meets, too. We have a really good team, this year, I’d say. And we push each other harder every day.”

The full story, and more photos, will be found in the April 17 print and e-editions of the Enterprise Journal.
