Second-half surge lifts Saints by Knights

ST. ANSGAR — Going from no points at halftime to 18 by game’s end, St. Ansgar senior guard Tyke Remster helped the Saints pull off a huge 61-58 home win on Friday, Jan. 5.

He scored 13 alone in the fourth quarter, hitting three of his four three-pointers.

It was a full complement to Hunter Hillman, who nearly notched a triple-double, scoring 23 points with 15 in the first half, adding 19 rebounds and all nine of the team’s blocked shots, including the final attempt by Newman to clinch it. That effort put him all alone atop the state of Iowa this season in blocked shots with 51.

“I think really just me and Hunter,” Remster said. “We both put up a big half each, and I think he had 15 in the first – that’s pretty crazy. They have to bring three or four people on Hunter – I feel pretty confident making those threes.”

Co-coach Eric Kline, upon hearing Remster scored all 18 of his points in the final 16 minutes of play, added, “That was huge for us. That opened things up, so happy for him because nobody wants to make those threes more than Tyke does.”
