St. Ansgar youth baseball team wins Iowa Tournament

Saint Ansgar’s 12U (12-and-under) Cedar River Bandits baseball team took home first place honors in the Cornshucker Touch ‘em All Tournament in Waterloo, Iowa on June 6.
The Bandits are comprised of local boys ages 10-12 with a love for baseball.  To capture the crown, they played 3 consecutive games in the intense summer heat, winning 11-2 vs the Benton Blue Sox (Atkins, IA), followed by a 14-12 nail-biter over Full Count 12U (Cedar Falls, IA), and ending the day cruising to  a 19-1 win against the Lazer Baseball Team (Lisbon, IA).
The Cedar River Bandits are organized by Joe Beland and coached by Eric Sparrow and Karl Zacharias.
