ST. ANSGAR — Before St. Ansgar’s Madison Hillman steps onto the court for her first basketball competition her senior season, she already knows where her future in the sport lies.

Hillman made it official by signing a national letter of intent to play Division II basketball at the University of Nebraska Kearney with family and friends surrounding her on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

“It’s a big relief,” Hillman said. “I don’t . . . I feel like I won’t have as much stress on me, and I can play just for fun, for sure.”

Hillman, who is within range of reaching 1,000 career points, likes a lot of aspects about the Lopers.

“Just the way of their playing style,” Hillman said. “They like to use their bigs, and I think I’m excited about that. That’s what made me want to go there. And, their coaches. They’re very nice, and the community (was, too).

“It had a good vibe and the feeling there, I felt at home.”
