Gobble Gobble! Grafton Celebrates Turkey Days

Grafton held its annual Turkey Day’s celebration last weekend, as people from all over the area flocked into town to celebrate the weekend occasion.

This year’s installment had lots of events to offer over the course of the weekend, including softball and volleyball tournaments, beer pong tournament, live music, parade, and not to mention some of the best turkey sandwiches one can sink their teeth into all year long.

Two visitors from Oklahoma took home the crown in the 5th Annual Grafton Turkey Day Beer Pong Tournament — the pair is building ethanol storage tanks in Lyle and stopped by to check out the festivities.The event saw 32 two-member teams enter. 

 

Bruesewitz Motors won the volleyball tournament, besting 23 other teams in a double elimination tournament that lasted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  

Charlson Body Repair also celebrated their 25th year in business over the weekend by hosting a car show on Main Street before the parade, followed by a 30-mile car  cruise.

Upwards of 75 classic cars rumbled into town for the occasion.

Sunday featured a bean bag tournament, a Bloody Mary contest, trivia, and the first annual Grafton Turkey Day Bike ride.

Bridgette Beyer of St. Ansgar took home first place in the Bloody Mary contest; her concoction came topped with a deviled egg garnish. 

The bike ride saw 37 people register for the first annual Turkey Day bike ride, and featured riders from all across Iowa.
