Heath Voigt claimed overall meet medalist honors with a nine-hole round of 38 while Isaac Houdek was two strokes back (40) for the medalist runner-up honors for coach Eric Goddard’s team.

“We are off to a good start this season on both the boys and girls side,” coach Goddard said. “The boys are deep and any number of players could be our low scorer for the night. We need to be more consistent around the greens.

“We’ll know more next Saturday when we travel to Grundy Center for an 18-hole tournament: four of the top teams in the state will be there, including the past two state champions with several returning players.”

Nate Goddard was third, one shot back at 41, including a nice long putt that just curled in on hole No. 9 on the course.

Completing team scoring for the Green Devils was Ty Voigt, who came in with a round of 44.

“The girls score of 200 is a pleasant surprise this early in the season,” coach Goddard said. “I had hoped to break 200 by the end of the season, so this early is great.”
