Mayer advances to regional final

SHEFFIELD — St. Ansgar’s Maci Mayer earned the final (sixth) qualifying spot for the Class 1A regional final this week with her 18-hole round of 99 at Sheffield’s Ridge Stone Golf Course on Friday, May 10.
The sophomore, who helped the Saints reach the regional final as a team a year ago, will be going on her own to Nashua’s Town & Country Club on Wednesday, May 15.
“It’s fun this year,” Mayer said of the different dynamic of not having a full team. “It’s small, but we have a lot of fun. Last year was good, too, but it’s kind of fun to compete on your own, get your own score and not having to worry about playing to a team score.”
